The Sustainable Tourism CRC was established under the Australian Government’s Cooperative
Research Centres Programme to underpin the development of a dynamic, internationally
competitive, and sustainable tourism industry. The Sustainable Tourism CRC is a
not-for-profit company owned by its industry, government and university partners.

The development and management of intellectual property (IP) to deliver innovation
to business, community, and government enhancing environmental, economic and social
sustainability of tourism – one of the world’s largest, fastest growing industries.
STCRC diffuses its research outputs to industry through:

- Licensing its intellectual property
- Business tools, kits, manuals and expert systems
- Conferences, workshops, seminars
- Published reports, summary sheets and extension flyers
- Internet-based information services
- Training products, courses and programs

We are developing Australia’s long-term tourism research capacities through a vigorous
postgraduate research education program, supported by scholarships for students
in industry-designed projects, and by developing and distributing education and
training products.
